Number 200!!! Something a bit different to mark this special occassion. Some of you may or may not know that my official training to become a painter began when I started my apprenticeship at The Atelier School of Fine Arts in Minneapolis in early 2001. This little portrait (or the style that it is done in) is very reminicent of many of the drawings and paintings I did in my three years there. Every now and then I get an itch to fall back into my traditional training and paint one of these pieces. Studying skin tones and form to create the illusion of skin and bone is always a magnificent challenge and every now and then when I start to get it right, and the illusion starts to happen I expect the person in the portarit to give me an ever so slight nod as to say "Your getting it."
Unfortunately one of these takes a few hours longer than one of my normal studies hence the larger starting bid.
