Miss Mae at Pyramid Hil

Just a quick photo I took a few weeks back at a massive scuplture park in the Cincinnati area called Pyramid Hill. If you like outdorr 3-d work of a more contemporary flare and in a natural setting I strongly resommend it.

Sorry about the lapse in posts. I have had a bit of a scuffle with a stomach virus of sorts and have been laid up for the past 3-4 days. But a few gallons of gatorade & Vitamin water later and a few pounds lighter I am up and moving and shall be painting straight away:)

DAILY DIAPER #195 "A White Echo"

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.
This is one of those houses that takes me back thorugh time. I can imagine a large exteneded family sitting on the wrap around deck of this old farm house. Unfortunately, like most of these homes it has fallen in a bit of disrepair. The inside probably still has some of the original feel and the outside, fading, still has an echoe of its youth.

DAILY DIAPER #194 "White and Seafoam Green "

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.

"Home" is the next in a new series for the diaper blog. This paticular home is located wuite close to where I live. A very common design for homes in this area due to the hilly nature of the region is the garage under the living space. In fact our house had this same look until a couple of decades back someone filled in the driveway and bricked over the garage door. The garage now is a finished room. . . aka my studio.

DAILY DIAPER #193 "The easel, The Taboret, The Hand"

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.

This is the last in the small seiries of studio self portraits. This one is a different kind of self portrait in that it really has very little of me in it, but it is most definitely a self portrait. This scene happens almost everyday of my life. My easel, one of the oldest pieces of art equipment I own, the taboret which I made about eight years ago and my stubby paw, which I've had for going on 36 years now (I left out a bit of the wear and tear on it for posterity's sake.)

DAILY DIAPER #192 "I've got an idea!"

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.

One of the last in this small series of self portraits, this actually was the first one that I came up with to paint. Breaking the brush tradition I decided to go with one of my trusty old pastel pencils. How I come up with my idea I really dont know but this is probably the Giner Pile look that occurs when the occasion occurs that I do get one.

On the painting of this piece I wanted to, out of respect for the pastel pencil, use alot more broken color than I normally would. Putting fresh color on a brush and scumbling over and over until you get the effect you want is something that I really figured out how to do when I started painting in pastels 8-9 years ago.

DAILY DIAPER #191 "Illuminating:)" **SOLD**

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.
A few diapers back (I can't remember which but maybe when I painted one of my palettes) I said I always loved seeing paintings of artists and the studios they work in. For me, it's always like a small autobiography of the painter. How they work, what they work with, kind of like your standing over their shoulder as they're painting. . . and in this one you pretty much are.

PS:Every now and then when I'm done with one of these small guys I step back and think "That's a finished painting waiting to happen." This is one of those paintings. I hope to do a larger version of it with a a bit moer finish and maybe something else behind the easel for interest.

DAILY DIAPER #190 "Squint!!!" **SOLD**

To bid on this auction click the diaper below.

Another in the series of self portraits. This one brings back memories. . . Through my highschool art classes, to college, and into the Atelier this was the most common word I, and probably any artist that has had any formal training, hears, SQUINT! Squint squint squint, over and over again, and I must say it's the best instruction for any painter out there. SO SQUINT DAMMIT!

DAILY DIAPER #189 "Palette in Hand" **SOLD**

To bid on this painting click the diaper below.
I'm at the point now in these little paintings where I can no longer sit down, set something up and paint. I need some structure so I am going to try and do small series of pieces . . . maybe a series a week totalling 5 or so paintings. Since this is the second self portrait let's start there shall we!
A scene of me working on a larger landscape with my palette ready to go as well as my trusty brushes in hand waiting for some mixing to start happening.
